World Ocean Atlas 1998 and World Ocean Database 1998

More than 41,000 color figures based on data and analyses presented in World Ocean Atlas 1998 and World Ocean Database 1998 are now available on-line through the NODC Home Page. Figures include climatological fields and statistics on a one-degree grid including temperature, salinity, oxygen, nutrients, and chlorophyll. These fields may be viewed for the world ocean or by individual basins. The fields may be especially useful for educational purposes.

To access the on-line figures:

  1. Access the NODC Home page using the following address: www.nodc.noaa.gov

  2. Click on "WOA98/WOD98"

  3. Click on "WORLD OCEAN ATLAS 1998 FIGURES"

  4. Click on "Figures Search"

  5. Select the desired figure from the menu
