HTTP daemon
HTTP daemon
We use the Hypertext Transport Protocol Daemon (HTTPD) from the National
Center for Supercomputer Applications, NCSA. This software is intended to
- Serve HTML pages, including graphics, and other static information
to users on the World-Wide Web.
- Start programs on the server machine, using what's called the
Common Gateway Interface (CGI), which can take information from
the request and construct pages or graphic information to be sent
back to the user. This ability is used by our
data server.
You can get more information about HTTPD from NCSA`s httpd overview
