Peter Smith's Moorings
In September 1996, we put
out two subsurface moorings, surrounded by three guard buoys, at each of the
following sites: SEF,NECW,NECE. The subsurface mooring positions are listed
below.
Update (April 2, 1997):
There have been reports of missing guard buoys: two at NEP, one at NECW,
and one at NECE. It would be useful to Peter to confirm these reports if
you have an opportunity to check while at sea. Peter would also like to
confirm how many guard buoys there are at SEF. Please
contact Peter using the information
below.

- G = 42 17.47N 65 51.00W
- AA = 42 17.73N 65 50.10W
- D = 43 18.10N 65 50.80W
- NECEA = shallow mooring
- NECE = four current meters, float at ~50 m, and tide gauge at bottom
- NECW = north east channel - west
Has 3 guard buoys initially, labelled S, H, and I
- S = 42 07.38N 66 01.08W
- H = 42 07.55N 66 00.47W
- I = 42 07.94N 66 01.06W
- NECWA = shallow mooring, with instrument at 20 meters
- NECW = four current meters, float at ~50 m and
tide gauge at bottom
We also put out two guard buoys at Jim Irish's NEP site, 41 44'N, 66 32'W.
