An open meeting to discuss and plan Phase III of the U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program will be held on November 3 and 4, 1997. Anyone planning to respond to this Announcement of Opportunity is encouraged to register and attend this open meeting.

Here is the preliminary agenda for the Phase III Open Planning Meeting. We have tried to structure the meeting so that as much interaction, discussion, and planning can take place as possible.

Day 1: Monday, November 3, 1997

0900 Opening remarks (Peter Wiebe)
  1. Introductions (name, organization)
  2. Meeting purpose
  3. Structure of meeting
  4. Review of Program goals and Phase I and II
  5. Objectives of Phase III

1000 Break

1015 Conceptual basis of Phase III - cross-frontal exchanges

1100 Individual presentations

  • Each attendee is invited to make a five (5) minute presentation on what they will propose. A final list of speakers will be made up at the meeting. Please submit speaker name and title of talk before the meeting if possible. Send this information, via e-mail, to rgroman@whoi.edu.

    Use the following organization to decide in which area your proposal(s) will best fit:

    1. Broad-scale studies (Drifters/remote sensing/shipboard sampling/moorings)
    2. Process studies
    3. Retrospective analyses
    4. Modeling
    5. Other
