Predator DNA Gut Content Protocol
Protocol for Obtaining Samples for
Calanus and Pseudocalanus
DNA Probing of Predator Gut Contents
Please obtain one plankton sample in ethanol and one plankton sample in
buffered formalin for five (5) sites. The samples do not need to be
quantitative. They should be collected in an area where Calanus
and Pseudocalanus are present. It doesn't matter from wheat depth the
samples are collected, so long as there are Calanus and/or
Pseudocalanus present. If possible, the formaline samples should be transferred
to alcohol after three (3) days. If not, they can be left in the formalin.
