The flow is approximately parallel to the streamlines.
The direction of the flow in the vicinity of
Georges Bank is shown by the particle trajectories.
The streamlines give an approximate picture of the flow
pathways. Notice that the particle that
starts inside the closed area in Georges Basin crosses the streamline and gets
onto Georges Bank. Also some of the
trajectories in Fig. 1 do not exactly follow the streamlines.
However the streamlines are a reasonable
representation of the overall patterns seen in Fig. B1.
