deemed to have entered the Gulf of Maine (those that cross the sill in

these are shown for clarity. The
initial vertical positions of the successful particles are shown in the right column
(triangles for those reaching Jordan Basin and circles otherwise).
The right column also shows the
seasonal-mean velocity (cm/s) normal to the release line (positive to the
northwest).
