PARIZEAU 98-078 CRUISE REPORT-- files

The file parizeau9878.orig.doc is the original Word document for this
report as received from Peter Smith (SmithPC@mar.dfo-mpo.gc.ca).

The file par9878.doc is the Word file after editing by me (DWS) to
extract Tables 4a and 4b (since they came out superimposed under
Netscape when the whole file was exported as html), to add a note at
the top about table display, and to insert a link to a gif version of
Figure 9-- i.e., this is the Word file from which the currently-served
html version was created.

I believe that while the figures in this report (apart from Fig. 9)
display as TIF previews when browsed, there may be encapsulated PS
versions somehow embedded in the original Word file.  In the case of
Fig. 9 a PS file has already been separated out; some different
versions of it are in the psfig9 subdirectory of the present directory.

Display notes for the Fig 9 PS files:  ghostview will display the ones
with extensions .eps and .orig.ps, but _not_ the one with extension .ps .
Conversely, pageview will _only_ display the .ps file.  Imagetool will
display the .ps file but you must go to "page 2" to see it.  These
results were obtained on the console of a Sun running Solaris 2.7.
(Only ghostview worked on an Xterminal to this same Sun, apparently due
to problems with the PS interpreter path.)

If extracting the spreadsheet for Table 4a from the Word document, as I
had to do in setting up the html display, caution is advised make sure
that the table remains accurate and complete; I got some strange
results from some of my extraction attempts.
