The sorting of the Broad Scale ichthyoplankton samples is finally moving forward. Sorting of the bongo and MOC-1 samples from 1995 and the bongo samples from 1996 should be completed by summer's end. Egg (February) and larval (February, March, April) distributions for cod and haddock are shown for cruises in 1995. The surface salinity distributions are also shown for the same cruises to indicate the location of the persistent influx of Scotian Shelf water observed in 1995. The eggs and larvae do not appear associated with the influx of Scotian Shelf water - in contrast to the situation observed in March 1997.
