U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Scientific Investigators Meeting The U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Scientific Investigators' Meeting took place Monday, July 21, 1997 through Wednesday, July 23, 1997 in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. This meeting was an opportunity for the eighty five [need to get exact count from Chip] researchers and guests who attended to -->share field broad-scale and process, lab, retrospective and modeling results, -->integrate and synthesize findings, -->prepare for national and international meetings, and -->talk with others who might have insights into unexplained results. The first morning and early afternoon were dedicated to synthesis talks in five topic areas: 1. Interannual variability in physical fields 2. Interannual variability in biological fields 3. Stratification 4. Intrusions 5. Coupled physical/biological modeling These summary talks incorporated results from all investigators whose work related to the topic. The remaining meeting time was devoted to 15-minute talks, poster and plenary discussion sessions. The individual talks (19), posters (27) and discussion sessions (4) allowed investigators to present results not included in the synthesis talks and to amplify or provide additional information on points made in the first day's sessions. A report from this meeting will be available shortly through our Web site at http://globec.whoi.edu.
