TOS95 Slides
On Thursday, April 20, 1995 Peter Wiebe presented a talk at the
Oceanographic Society's plenary session entittled "GLOBEC: An Update".
Here are the slides used during his talk.
- Distribution
and relative abundance of the copepod Calanus finmarchicus on Georges
Bank. Abundances were estimated at sea during the cruise and were
assigned to one of four categories: very abundance, abundant, common,
or rare. The sizes of the circles indicate the relative abundances.
Unfilled circles indicate the apparent absence of the species from that
station.

13. Distribution and relative abundance of the copepod, Pseudocalanus
spp.on Georges Bank. Abundances were estimated at sea during the
cruise and were assigned to one of four categories: very abundance,
abundant, common, or rare. The sizes of the circles indicate the
relative abundances. Unfilled circles indicate the apparent absence of
the species from that station.
- Latitude/longitude
plots of cod and Haddock distrubutions during the period of
May 2 - May 27, 1994
- Station
locations for the six U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program broad-scale
surveys of 1995. Thirty-eight stations were positioned to sample
the well-mixed area on top of the Bank, the stratified areas on the
flanks of the Bank, and the deeper waters in adjoining areas (Slope
Water to the south and Gulf of Maine to the north).
- The
U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program's home page which is the entry
point for access to data and information about the program. The URL is
http://globec.whoi.edu/.
- The U.S.
GLOBEC Georges Bank Program consists of scientific investigators from
24 Institutions across the US and Canada. The investigators are
connected to each other via the Internet and to the distributed data
and information system through WWW browsers.
- The
U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program has a Program Service and Data
Management Office which supports operations at sea, coordinates
meetings of the scientific investigators, and manages the online
distributetd database.
- The
U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program primary objective.
- Schematic
illustration of factors affecting population biomass.
- Introductory
title slide for TOS 95 presentation.
- Scematic
illustration of the structure of the U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank
Program.
- Distribution of
The hydroid, Clytia sp. Filled circles indicate presence and
unfilled circles indicate the apparent absence of the species from that
station.
- This is a
graph of the number of hydranths vs. depth by day and night.
- Drawings of
the four target species being studied by the U.S. GLOBEC Georges
Bank Program. Some of their predators and prey are also
illustrated.

the U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank Program activities in 1995, highligting
the work at sea.
