The Treaty inspection team split up into two teams on going to Arctowski and one to Ferraz. After dropping off the two team we proceeded to steam off shore of COPA field station upon arrival we encountered 8 foot swell and 25 to 30 kt winds blowing straight into the Bay making a Zodiac launch at that location impossible. We then moved back to Arctowski in the lee and tried to make a run around the point at Arctowski along the shore to a lee next to the large rock out cropping to the right of COPA with no luck. The wave frequency and height made this to risky so we put Joe Yarkin ashore at Arctowski with his supplies and the freshies for COPA. The Polish team said that they would get him around when the weather laid down. While the Treaty team was at Arctowski the station had two of its three tourist ship visits for the season, and Ferraz was having its 18th year commemoration ceremony. With a Argentine research ship anchored off their base as well so it was a very busy day in Admiralty bay with very poor weather conditions. After picking up the Two teams we departed for Palmer station should arrive later afternoon on 7 Feb. 01 Regards Randy D. We sailed out to BP-046s sediment trap site SE of Station E had a successful recovery of their trap. A Bio Acoustics survey of Stations B through I was conducted starting at 0400, then we started station work at Lter Stations B then E. After which time we moved out to the 600.040 line station to start that transect line. All equipment appears to be working well with only minor problems, the CTD had to have the electrical termination re-done and the 01 deck incubator manifolds 8 PVC valves had to be replaced as all were cracked and leaking.
