Wind at 40kn, vis. sometimes down to as far as the bow of the ship. Able to drop and hold anchor long enough to take zodiacs alongside and discharge passengers and their luggage. All site visitors were off the ship and on station by 1130. An attempt was going to be made to visit the AWS on Hugo island at this time, but with the weather as bad as it is here it can only be worse there, so figured it would be a lost cause. If the weather breaks, an attempt will be made. Too windy for zodiac ops so had to leave 20 personnel on station. Spent the night cruising up and down the Gerlache Straight. Winds died down during the night allowing us to return this morning. Returned to near zero visibility due to snow. Weather opened up at about 1000 allowing us to initiate boat ops with the station once again. Weather currently calm and overcast. Invited over to the station for pizza tonight. Plans call for us to stay till evening of the 15th.
