Once these activities were finished a CTD cast was made followed by a Reeve net and then a 1-m2 MOCNESS deployment. It was then decided to take advantage of the good lead we were in and have the divers work in a good open area 200 meters ahead of the bow of the ship. While the divers were working a series of short CTD casts were taken.. Once the divers were back on board, three Tucker trawls were performed. We have started discussions with the LMG on our escorting them to their next process station. Because of time constraints and the need to start the northern portion of the survey grid, the Chief Scientist has dropped station # 25 and 24 from the grid survey plan. After these activities were finished a CTD cast was taken followed by a Tucker trawl. An under ice dive was under consideration before leaving this station but the cold temperatures and the lack of krill, as verified by the ROV, made it logical to cancel the effort. This was done by positioning the NBP in a location that discouraged the birds from running away from the team of individuals from the LMG who were on the ice. Other activities of the day included HTI calibrations, a CTD cast, deployment of the ROV, and ice sampling. We are continuing to transit to station #77 where the LMG plans to remain for about one week while the NBP starts working the southern portion of the survey grid. Four CTD stations were completed followed by the deployment of the Benthos SeaRover ROV which operated at a distance of approximately 100 meters from the ship. Following this the 1-m2 MOCNESS was towed for nearly three hours and then the 10-m2 MOCNESS was deployed for two and one half hours.
