What's what:
Data served as 3 different presentations of the same data. 

Object 'VPR_ashjian_orig' = original version of data where taxa are in different columns. Uses 'vpr_toplevel' .dat, .ind etc.

Object 'VPR_ashjian_alt' = data that has been transposed using columns to rows, then restructured and served by jgof_read. Data files for this object are in the col_to_row directory.

Object 'VPR_ashjian_nonzero' = data where values of zero and nd in the taxon column are omitted. Data has been transposed, restructured, and served by jgof_read. Data files for this object are in the non_zero_data directory. 

The restruct directory was previously created. Dicky must have been using this to restructure the data at some point, but is not being used now (as of 08/01/12).
