REMARKS:  We launched a zodiac to attempt to biopsy a pair of humpback whales in the Bismarck enroute to Palmer Station early this morning, but couldn't get near enough to the animals, and gave in so as not to harass them unduly.  Arrived at Palmer Station at approximately 0830 and immediately began cargo operations.  Completed cargo operations and finished rigging the back deck for mooring recovery work shortly before sailing from Palmer at 1600.  ETA to SIO mooring S2A 0300 local 18 February.
