Shelf Bank Case -- Migrating Particles |
In 'bank_ds_mig' simulation, 27900 particles were positioned in a regular grid encompassing the region from 500-800 km in Y, from the shore to 100 km off the coast, and seeded at 9 equally spaced depths from -40 to -100 m in depth. This simulation tracks the positions of individuals that passed through a region (at any depth) bounded by 580-600 km in X, 200-400 km in Y, and during the time interval of 20-30 days. This is the region in which the most dense water upwelled to the surface. The image above shows the positions of particles at ca. 20 days into the simulation. The animation shows the time history of particles for a 28 day simulation. The FLC animation can be obtained by clicking here. The animation contains the results of simulations with particles undergoing DVM. Snapshots of particle positions were stored at 0.1 day intervals. |
