Heat Shock Protein (hsp70)
Monte Carlo Chi-square test of  genetic heterogeneity:
  - among gyres P = 0.0000 + 0.000
  - within Western NA: P = 1.0000 +- 0.0000
 -  Within Eastern NA (Norwegian / Barents): P = 0.0150 +- 0.0038
 - within Northern NA:  P = 0.0200 +- 0.0044
We have identified 8 SNP sites at hsp70 gene,. Figure shows the allele frequencies at each of 8 SNPs for hsp70 gene in different regions. SNP sites are represented by these individual bars, Individual bars are colored to show the frequency of each nucleotide base as you can see in the legend. I hope you can see the differences among the regional samples by the pattern of colors in histograms. Because these sample sizes are small , we have done a preliminary analysis by Monte Carlo  Chi-square test which shows highly significant differences among the regional samples

We have also carried out a within gyre analysis. We pooled the samples to represent the 3 gyres. So the allele frequencies of the pooled gyre samples also indicated significant population genetic heterogeneity among gyres (p = 0.0000 + 0.000)
An interesting result with this gene is that the western NA populations came out to be very similar. There were no differentiation among the samples.
On the other hand, there were significant differentiation with the eastern NA and the Northern NA gyres.
Nearly all variation is neutral – differences NOT due to functional differences between genes

Highly significant P < 0.01
Significant P < 0.05
