        <title>CTD data collection simultaneously with MOCNESS plankton tows,
        Georges Bank/Gulf of Maine region, 1992-1999, GLOBEC</title>
      </citeinfo>

    <descript>
CTD observations were collected simultaneously with the towing
      of the multi-net MOCNESS plankton sampler (net size units of 0.25, 1 and
      10 square meters) during 46 cruises to the Georges Bank/Gulf of Maine
      region. Observations cover the period 1992 thru 1999, however, the
      in-depth coverage is for the years 1995 thru 1999. These data represent
      the water column conditions at the time/depth each net was open along the
      towed track. Parameters reported are: lat., long., depth, temperature,
      salinity, potential density, potential temperature, and to a lesser
      degree fluorescence, light transmission, and dissolved oxygen. A number
      of high resolution net parameters (net angle, flow counts, horizontal net
      velocity, and vertical net velocity) are reported along with the CTD data
      stream. These parameters document the status the net over the duration of
      the tow and should be taken into consideration when interpreting the
      plankton catch data.
