CRUISE	6 alpha characters 2 for ship code, 2 for year code, 2 for sequential cruise number.

STDSTA	Standard station number on a cruise.

GEAR		Gear identifier, Bongo versus MOC1.

HAUL		Haul station number on a cruise.

NETID	Net identifier.

LAT		Latitude, tow location at start of tow, to nearest whole minute.

LNG		Longitude, tow location at start of tow, to nearest whole minute.

DATE		Date of plankton tow start.

TIME		Time of plankton tow start.

VOL	Total volume of water filtered per unit time and is function of the net mouth area, the water flow speed, and filtration efficiency (1.0 or 100%).

DPTH_OPN	Depth at which the net was opened.

DPTH_CLSD		Depth at which the net was closed.

SHF	Standard Haul Factor, numerical factor (multiplier) used to standardize catches to be expressed as number caught per 10m2 of sea surface area.  Most haul factors range from 1 to 10.
