Samsung provides support for this printer in the form of a
Ghostscript driver (with source code). They provide a Ghostscript
RPM and an installer that adjusts Red Hat's printtool or
printconf-gui. There is also a PPD for distros using CUPS (as
Mandrake 7.2 or newer) and a possibility to integrate the driver
in SuSE's APS filters. Users of other distributions/printing
systems should use the Foomatic information provided
here.

There is also much discussion about the Samsung GDI printers
(especially the ML-4500) in linuxprinting.samsung.general.

Stupidly, Samsung has named the driver "gdi". This name
is confusing, because the driver supports only Samsungs GDI
printers. I tried to hack the driver to give a new name to it, but
I didn't succeed.

The driver got lost in a reshuffle of Samsung's website. A
copy is available
here.
