	 <para>The <application>GNOME Ghostview (GGV)</application> application enables you to view PostScript files. The application is based on <application>GNU GhostView</application>. <application>&app;</application> runs the <application>Ghostscript</application> application in the background, to interpret PostScript files. <application>&app;</application> provides the user with a simple user interface to display PostScript files on screen or print the files to a printer.

			 <para>The menus on the menubar contain all of the commands that you need to work with files in <application>&app;</application>. Choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Layout</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Show Menus</guimenuitem> </menuchoice> to show or hide the menubar.</para>
		  </listitem>
		  <listitem><para>Toolbar</para>
			 <para>The toolbar contains a subset of the commands that you can access from the menubar. Choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Layout</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Show Toolbar</guimenuitem> </menuchoice> to show or hide the toolbar.</para>
		  </listitem>
		  <listitem><para>Display pane</para>
			 <para>The display pane displays the PostScript file. Right-click in the display pane to invoke a popup menu.</para>
		  </listitem>
		  <listitem><para>Sidebar</para>
			 <para>The sidebar is displayed to the left of the display pane. The sidebar contains the following items:</para>

				<listitem><para>Zoom spin box: enables you to enlarge or shrink the content of the display pane.</para>
				</listitem>
				<listitem><para>Read-only coordinates field: displays the X and Y coordinates of the mouse pointer in the display pane. The unit of measurement that the field displays is specified in the <guilabel>Document</guilabel> tabbed section of the <guilabel>GGV Preferences</guilabel> dialog. </para>
				</listitem>
				<listitem><para>Toggle buttons: enable you to mark pages so that you can perform an action on the marked pages. The following toggle buttons are available: </para>

		<title>To Open a File</title>
		<para>To open a file, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>File</guimenu> <guimenuitem>Open</guimenuitem> </menuchoice> to display the <guilabel>Select a PostScript document</guilabel> dialog. Select the file that you want to open, then click <guibutton>Open</guibutton>. </para>
		<para>You can also drag a file from another application, such as a file manager, to the <application>&app;</application> window. The application displays the file in a new <application>&app;</application> window.</para>
	 </sect2>
	 
	 <sect2 id="ggv-view-file"> 
		<title>To View a File</title>
		<para>To view a file, you can use the following options:</para>
		<itemizedlist> 
		  <listitem><para>To view the next page, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>Go</guimenu> <guimenuitem>Next page</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>.  </para>

		  <listitem><para>To view the previous page, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>Go</guimenu> <guimenuitem>Previous page</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>.  </para>

		  <listitem><para>To view the first page in the file, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>Go</guimenu> <guimenuitem>First page</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>.  </para>

		  <listitem><para>To view the last page in the file, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>Go</guimenu> <guimenuitem>Last page</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>.  </para>

		  <listitem><para>If a page is larger than the display pane, use the scrollbars to scroll the current page. You can also use the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll the current page. To view the whole page in the display pane, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Auto-fit</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Fit to Page Size</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>. To view the whole width of the page in the display pane, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Auto-fit</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Fit to Page Width</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>. To resize the <application>&app;</application> window to the original size, right-click on the document then choose <guimenuitem>Fullscreen mode</guimenuitem>  from the popup menu.

		<title>To Change the Orientation of a File</title>
		<para>To change the orientation of a file, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Orientation</guisubmenu> </menuchoice>, then select the orientation option that you want.

		<title>To Change the Page Size of the File</title>
		<para>The page size of the file determines the height and width of each page in the file. To change the page size, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Size</guisubmenu> </menuchoice>, then select the page size that you want from the list of page sizes available. </para>
		
		<para>To reset the page size of the file to the page size that is set in the properties of the file, choose <menuchoice> <guimenu>View</guimenu> <guisubmenu>Size</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Document Size</guimenuitem> </menuchoice>.  </para>

Enter a name for the output file, then click <guibutton>Save</guibutton>. The application saves the pages to the new file, and maintains the original page numbers of the pages.</para>
