CD Player The &app; application enables you to play audio Compact Discs (CDs) on your computer. You can use CD Player to perform the following tasks with audio CDs: Play, pause, stop, or eject a CD. Move through the tracks on the CD. Adjust the output volume from the CD Player. Edit the track information. You can start &app; in the following ways: Applications menu Choose Multimedia &app; . Command line Execute the following command: gnome-cd When you start &app;, the following window is displayed.

Shows CD Player main window.

The &app; window contains the following elements: A display area that displays details about the CD that you are playing. A Volume control slider that enables you to control the output volume. A Position slider that displays the progress of the current track. You can move the slider forwards or backwards to move the play to a different position on the track. A Shows Open track editor button. button that enables you to open the Track Editor dialog. A Shows Preferences button. button that enables you to open the Preferences dialog. A drop-down list that enables you to view the names of the tracks on the CD and move to a track. A button area that enables you to play the tracks on the CD. To play a CD, insert the CD in the CD drive of your computer, then press the Shows Play button. button. The application displays the following information in the display area: Time elapsed on the current track. Name of the artist. Title of the CD. To play different tracks on the CD, perform the following actions: To move to the next track on the CD, click on the Shows Next track button. button. To move to the previous track on the CD, click twice on the Shows Previous track button. button. To display a list of the tracks on the CD, click on the drop-down list located below the display area. To move to a track on the list, select a track from the list. To fast forward a track, click on the Shows Fast forward button. button. To rewind a track, click on the Shows Rewind button. button. To pause a CD that is playing, click on the Shows Pause button. button. To resume playing the CD, click on the Shows Play button. button again. To stop playing a CD, click on the Shows Stop button. button. To adjust the output volume of the CD Player, move the volume slider to specify the volume level you require. The volume slider is located to the right of the display area in the application window. Move the slider upwards to increase the volume. Move the slider downwards to decrease the volume. To edit the CD information, perform the following steps: To open the Track Editor dialog, click on the button. The Track Editor dialog is displayed, see . To edit the name of the artist, edit the contents of the Artist text box. To edit the title of the CD, edit the contents of the Disc Title text box. To add comments about the CD, the genre of music, and the year the CD was produced, click on the arrow next to Show advanced disc options. To edit the title of a track, click twice on the track in the Title column of the track table, then type the new title. To add additional information about a track, select the track in the track table, then click on the arrow next to Show advanced track options. Type the additional track information in the Extra track data text box. To save the changes on your local computer, click Save.

To eject a CD, click on the Shows Eject CD button. button. This action stops the CD if the CD is still playing, and opens the CD tray. To configure &app;, click on the Shows Preferences button. button. CD Player Device Use this text box to specify the name of the CDROM device. Click Apply change to save a change to this setting. Start playing CD when CD Player starts Select this option to start playing the CD in the CD drive when you start the &app; application. Attempt to eject CD when CD Player exits Select this option to automatically eject the CD in the CD drive when the &app; application exits. Available Themes Use this list box to select a display theme for the &app;. The themes available are as follows: lcd Provides standard buttons and a gray background in the display area. red-lcd Provides standard buttons and a red background in the display area. media Provides modified buttons and a red background in the display area.
