Shows Stock Ticker applet. Contains scrolling display area, back and forward buttons.

The &applet; applet downloads current stock quotes from Yahoo! Finance and displays the quotes in a scrolling display. If your computer is located behind a firewall you must use a proxy server to run &applet; successfully. For more information about how to specify a proxy server, see . &applet; displays the following information for each stock symbol that is defined in the applet preferences: The stock symbol that represents a company. The current quote. An arrow to indicate an increase or decrease in the quote. The amount of the increase or decrease in the quote. The percentage of the increase or decrease in the quote. To add &applet; to a panel, right-click on the panel, then choose Add to PanelAccessories&applet;. To move forwards or backwards in the scrolling display, use the arrow buttons located at the right and left of the applet display. See for information about how to add stock quotes to the applet display. See for information about how to set the update frequency of stock information. To immediately update the information that is displayed in the applet, right-click on the applet, then choose Update. If your computer is located behind a firewall you must use a proxy server to run &applet; successfully. To configure the GNOME Desktop to use a proxy server, use your preference tools to specify the network proxy server for Internet connections. To configure &applet;, right-click on the applet, then choose Preferences. The Stock Ticker Preferences dialog contains the following tabbed sections: The Symbols tabbed section contains a list of stock quotes displayed by &applet;. You can add stock quotes to the Current stocks list, and remove stock quotes. To add a stock quote to the Current stocks list, perform the following steps: Identify the stock symbol for the company. Type the stock symbol for the company in the New symbol text box. Click Add. Click Close to save the change and close the dialog. To remove a stock quote from the Current stocks list, perform the following steps: Select the stock symbol for the company. Click Remove. Click Close to save the change and close the dialog. Stock update frequency ... minutes Use this spin box to increase or decrease the frequency at which the applet downloads the latest stock information from the Internet. Scroll speed Use this drop-down list to change the speed at which the applet displays the quotes in the scrolling display. Enable scroll buttons Select this option to display forward and back arrow buttons on the applet to enable you to move forwards or backwards in the applet display. Scroll left to right Select this option to reverse the direction in which the applet display scrolls. If you select this option, the display scrolls from left to right instead of from right to left. Display only symbols and price Select this option to only display the company symbol and the current stock quote in the applet display. Width ... pixels Use this spin box to increase or decrease the width of the applet in the panel. Use default theme font and colors Select this option to use the standard application font and colors for the applet. If you deselect this option, the remaining options in the Font and Colors group box are available. Font Click on this button to choose the font to use to display the stock symbol and current price. Stock raised Click on this button to select a color to display stock quotes that are higher than the previous stock quote. Click on the color button to display a color selector dialog. Use the Palette, color wheel, or spin boxes on the color selector dialog to choose a color. Stock lowered Click on this button to select a color to display stock quotes that are lower than the previous stock quote. Stock unchanged Click on this button to select a color to display stock quotes that are unchanged since the previous stock quote. Background Click on this button to select a background color for the display area of the applet.
