Shows &applet; applet. Displays a message.

The &applet; applet checks your mail server at regular intervals to determine if there is new mail in your mailbox. The applet displays a message to inform you whether you have new mail. To add &applet; to a panel, right-click on the panel, then choose Add to Panel Internet Inbox Monitor . To check the mail server for new messages, right-click on the applet, then choose Update. &applet; contacts the mail server to determine if there is new mail on the server. You can configure &applet; to run a command when you click on the applet. See for information about how to configure &applet; to run commands. To configure &applet;, right-click on the applet, then choose Preferences. Check for mail every ... minutes ... seconds Use the spin boxes to specify how often &applet; checks the mail server to determine if there is new mail. Play a sound when new mail arrives Select this option to play a default sound when the applet finds new mail on the mail server. The default sound file is specified in $prefix/etc/sound/events/mailcheck.soundlist. Stop animation when double clicked If you select an animated image from the Select animation drop-down list, select this option to stop the animation when you double-click on the applet. Select animation Use this drop-down list box to select the type of display to use in the applet. You can display text, an image, or an animation. Before each update Select this option to run a command before &applet; checks for new mail. Type the command in the text box provided. For example, type the command to run the dialup software that you use to connect to the Internet. When new mail arrives Select this option to run a command when &applet; detects new mail. Type the command in the text box provided. For example, type fetchmail to run the fetchmail program to retrieve mail from a remote mail server. When double clicked Select this option to run a command when you double-click on the &applet; applet. Type the command in the text box provided. For example, to start a Netscape Messenger window when you double-click on the applet, type netscape -mail in the text box. Mailbox resides on Select one of the following options from the drop-down list box to specify the type of mail server on which your mailbox resides: Local mailspool If your mailbox resides on a shared mail spool area on a local mail server. Local maildir If your mailbox is set up as a maildir mailbox that resides in your local directory tree. Remote POP3-server If your mailbox resides on a remote Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) mail server. Remote IMAP-server If your mailbox resides on a remote Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) server. Mail spool file If you select Local mailspool or Local maildir as your mailbox location, use this field to specify the location to check for new messages. Mail server If you select Remote POP3-server or Remote IMAP-server as your mailbox location, use this text box to specify the name of the remote mail server. Username If you select Remote POP3-server or Remote IMAP-server as your mailbox location, use this text box to specify the username to access the remote mail server. Password If you select Remote POP3-server or Remote IMAP-server as your mailbox location, use this text box to specify the password to access the remote mail server. Save password to disk Select this option to save the password in encrypted format in the gconf database. If you select this option, the applet does not prompt you to enter the password each time you want to access the mail server. Folder If you select Remote IMAP-server as your mailbox location, use this text box to specify the folder on the server that contains your mailbox.
