OUTREACH PROGRAM TO PROMOTE COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS

Summary

The Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership (MFP) proposes to conduct outreach workshops at 3 sites along the coast of Massachusetts. Each site would host an all-day workshop consisting of about 25 fishermen along with 5 volunteer facilitators and a few enthusiastic scientists. Each workshop will be organized and supervised by a professional facilitator. Example research projects will be presented and analyzed. Each participant will be encouraged to help identify the strengths and weaknesses of each project. Lessons learned will be presented with an evaluation form that will rate the facilitators, the effectiveness of the material presented, and solicit suggestions for improvements.
