COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH OUTREACH SERVICES
Summary
The Gulf of Maine Aquarium Development Corporation (GMADC) will
provide a 50% time Collaborative Research Development Officer to
assist the Northeast Consortium (NEC) with outreach assistance,
primarily in the State of Maine, to identify fishermen and
scientists with interest in participating in collaborative research,
assist members of each community with finding collaborative research
partners, assist with proposal development through timely proposal
critiques, and provide training in the development, funding and
management of collaborative research projects.
GMADCs activities will include:
- Collaboration with NEC and the Northwest Atlantic Marine
Alliance (NAMA) to identify fishermen with collaborative
research interests.
- Briefings of research scientists at Maines marine research
institutions regarding Gulf of Maine fishery research
priorities and the NEC funding process.
- Collaboration with NEC, the University of Maine Sea Grant
Program and the Research Association of the Gulf of Maine to
identify scientists with collaborative research interests.
- Workshops for fishermen and scientists regarding
collaborative research project concept development, NEC
concept letter preparation and NEC proposal preparation.
- Concept letter and proposal critique assistance,
particularly for collaborative research projects initiated
by fishermen.
- Project implementation advice for research projects that
receive NEC funding.
GMADC will work closely with NEC and NAMA to coordinate outreach
efforts.
