GLOBEC Georges Bank - Precruise Data Catalog

Project: Satellite-Derived SST and Ocean Color Variability On Southern Georges Bank
PI[s]: J. J. Bisagni, J. E. O'Reilly, J. A. Yoder
NOAA/NMFS Narragansett, RI, URI/GSO Narragansett, RI
Data: Sea Surface Temperature, CZCS Pigment
Sea Surface Temperature
Historical and contemporary sea surface temperature images derived from full (1 km) resolution AVHRR satellite data for all of Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine
Optimally-interpolated historical and contemporary sea surface temperature time series from spatially-averaged data over southern Georges Bank
CZCS Pigment
Historical and contemporary CZCS pigment images derived from full (1 km) resolution CZCS and SeaWiFS satellite data for all of Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine
Optimally-interpolated historical and contemporary CZCS pigment time series from spatially-averaged data over southern Georges Bank
Area: 72.164 W to 63.487 W longitude, 39.013 N to 45.429 N latitude (70.632 W to 63.955 W longitude, 38.994 N to 43.996 N latitude)
This is our standard (blowup) GLOBEC domain. The blowup domain will be used for transmission over Inmarsat A to ships during process and broad scale cruise periods only.
Period: 1 October 1993 to 31 December 1995
Contemporary SST and pigment data only. Historical SST (CZCS pigment) data will extend from 1981 to 1986 (1978-1986)
Frequency: Two passes per day
AVHRR data only. CZCS is about 1 pass every 2-4 days. SeaWiFS will provide daily coverage
Format:
Images: University of Miami XDR04 image format, 8-bit, 512 X 512 binary image, with three 512-byte header records. Time series: Flat ASCII files of time (decimal year days) and SST (deg C) or pigment concentration (mg/m^3)
