Broadscale water sampling for oxygen isotope analysis

  1. At each of the fixed broadscale stations water samples should be collected at those of the following depths that are appropriate: surface, 20m, 50m, 100m, 200m, bottom.
  2. Use the 60ml amber glass bottles and fill as for a salinity sample: rinse three times, fill leaving small air bubble at top, and seal with two turns of black tape.
  3. Store and ship in 48 bottle cartons, do not freeze. Plastic containers are provided for convenient handling and storage on the ship deck.
  4. Required for subsequent analysis is a record of station, depth, temperature, and salinity for each water sample.
