Mooring Positions - 1998

Important Notice: Broad-scale surveys need to be aware that moorings may be located near Broad-scale standard stations #9, 20, 25 and 39. Watch out for them so that you do not tow too near them.

In general, Science Buoys have sensors and instrumentation on the mooring line. Guard Buoys typically have no instrumentation . A map of the mooring locations superimposed on the broad-scale track line is available.

• Long-Term Moored Program (Irish, Beardsley, Brink)
  • Southern Flank Science Mooring:
    • Guard Buoy A: Deployed October 22, 1997 - 40° 58.120' N x 67° 18.907' W
    • Guard Buoy B: Deployed October 22, 1997 - 40° 57.995' N x 67° 19.199' W
    • Science Buoy D: Deployed October 22, 1997 at 40° 58.069' N x 67° 19.004' W
      Note: This mooring was recovered April 18, 1998 by R/V Oceanus and will be redeployed as soon as repairs are made.

  • Northeast Peak Mooring: There are no moorings at this site at this time.

• Peter Smith's Moorings - His moorings were retrieved in June, 1997 and not replaced. He has nothing out there now.

• Ronald Schlitz' Moorings - He has no moorings in the water at this time.

• USGS Moorings - Marinna Martini reported that all their moorings are out of the water.
