Main Gateway to U.S. GLOBEC Northeast Pacific Data

Presently, this page provides links only to online data sets, although in the future, it may include also, contact information for investigators that have not yet provided on-line access to their datasets.

To minimize difficulty in accessing US GLOBEC datasets, the US GLOBEC Data Management Office (DMO) maintains a field name (or variable name) Thesaurus and provides Guidelines for defining new field names (Thesaurus Guidelines). When preparing a dataset for publication in the GLOBEC data server, it is recommended that you first check the Thesaurus for existing field names that might apply to the variables you plan to serve. Note, that the field names shown in the thesaurus were created by the GLOBEC Georges Bank/NW Atlantic program mostly. Platform names and their abbreviations show this GB bias. The important part of the Thesaurus page is the section on "Field Names". If an appropriate field name for your data is not already defined in the thesaurus, create a new one, following the Thesaurus guidelines, and provide the field name and description of the field to the GLOBEC DMO (rgroman@whoi.edu) and to Hal Batchelder (hbatchelder@coas.oregonstate.edu) in the US GLOBEC NEP coordinating office.
