Phytoplankton physiology and ecology

What attracts you to the ocean?

Everything. I love the color, the smell, the taste, the timeless motion, the waves, the space and the so many different forms of lives in it. I have always been attracted by the ocean; it inspires me with a sense of infinite search.  From a scientific view, I am attracted to the ocean because of its complexity as an ecosystem. I am very interested in understanding how life in the ocean is regulated and regulates itself by changes in the biological, chemical and physical environment. At the moment, I am studying how phytoplankton (microscopic algae) physiology is affected by light and nutrients. Finally, I am fascinated by the power of the ocean. The ocean is so natural alive that makes you feel that way too. I love it.
