GLOBEC Northeast Pacific Program Mapping of Physical and Biological Fields in the Northern California Current July 31 - August 19, 2002

July 30, 2002
Loading Day

8:00 a.m.:  Loading day has arrived!  Loading actually started on Sunday, July 28, when the Revelle docked in Newport.  Today the New Horizon will be docking next to the Revelle and loading all day as well.  In addition to the Revelle and New Horizon, the Wecoma is docked at the OSU pier.  Needless to say it is a busy and hectic time for the scientists.  All the equipment must be loaded and installed and final checks must be made.

Loading activities on board the Revelle.  Shown is one of the many loads moved by crane onto the ship, checkout of the CTD rosette, installing the satellite communication computer on the New Horizon, and assembling and testing many of the instruments in the main lab.
